"Get into the habit of dealing with God about everything. Unless you learn to open the door of your life completely and let God in from your first waking moment of each new day, you will be working on the wrong level throughout the day. But if you will swing the door of your life fully open and ‘pray to your Father who is in the secret place,’ every public thing in your life will be marked with the lasting imprint of the presence of God."

to me, cuss words are like slang. usually when i say that, i get a ton of people messaging me various translations of ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

but what i don’t understand is how people think that cuss words count as corrupting talk. what that verse is saying is that we’re supposed to be building people up!! if you trash talk people but use crap instead of shit it doesn’t really matter lmao. i use cuss words to build people up all the time. i think that sometimes they fit nicely in poetry, everyday conversation, rants, etc. and they’re!! just!!!! words!!!

Telling your son not to “be such a girl” lets his sister who overhears the conversation know that being a girl is not a good thing and she should be sorry and ashamed of herself.

It also reminds your son that being a boy is better than being a girl and therefore he is better than any girl he will ever meet.

I’m going to make a kind of radical statement here… I don’t think being homosexual and loving Jesus are mutually exclusive. I know what you’re thinking, “But Alex, it clearly says in the Bible…” but let me continue. I think these are two completely separate things.

I watched a video on Upworthy about Vicky Beeching. She’s a really prominent Christian singer and you’ve probably sang some of the songs she wrote in church. She’s recently come out as homosexual. She said when she was younger she would pray that God would help her with the demonic presence inside of her. She prayed that God would take away her feelings. She was brought up to think that it was wrong and that made her not like herself. And then later in the video, Vicky said she’s never felt stronger in her faith in Jesus than she does now.

Part of the video is her giving an interview and in the interview, they bring a conservative preacher on and he just goes on and on. He tells her that he’s sad for her and that she’s sinning and that he felt sympathy for her. The whole time he was talking she showed so much grace; it was unbelievable. I would have not showed him as much grace as she did. It made me start thinking, she prayed God would take away her temptation. She prayed for salvation. And she loves Jesus- that’s completely obvious by the way she talks about Christ. Why isn’t it possible that a person could be gay and be Christian? I think it’s completely possible that I don’t know everything about sexuality. I definitely don’t know everything about God.

I know that God is bigger than even the words in the Bible. I don’t think we know everything. We shouldn’t presume to say something is wrong when we really don’t know. How do you know that homosexuals weren’t born that way?

My Jesus is bigger than what’s written in 862 pages. If her heart is with Jesus; she’s my sister in Christ. Who am I to cast the first stone?

I find it interesting how society doesn’t care when the media sexualizes women, when men sexualizes women, when school and the government sexualizes women. But the second a woman is in control and sexualizes herself willingly it’s wrong and disgusting.
